Chalkwell Kennels

We are Brian and Ria McGovern and we are the proprietors of Chalkwell Kennels and together we have a lifetime of experience in dog training and boarding.

Ria is Dutch.  She has passed the Dutch state examination for Animal Boarding Kennel management. This qualification is a compulsory requirement for anyone wishing to operate boarding kennels in The Netherlands. She is also a qualified nurse and her professional background gives her excellent qualifications to manage our business.

Brian has written 3 books on dog training (see Training Books). He gives seminars on dog training and over the last 30 years has given numerous seminars in the UK, the United States, New Zealand and throughout Europe.

Brian and Ria have won the Dutch national obedience championships on three occasions (and runners up on 5 occasions). They currently own 5 dogs; three German Shepherds, a Border Collie and a Malinois. The family group is rounded off with Trudy the cat who popped in, liked what she saw, and decided to move in. Not only do Brian and Ria work in the pet industry, they also spend any free time training the dogs and competing in Obedience competitions.
